Hors d’oeuvres receptions are great for budget minded brides who want to get married in our elegant Southern Mansion and who love the unique variety + casual vibe hors d’oeuvres offer. We love when the bride and groom use the elements of their wedding to capture the essence of their unique style as a couple, and we think hors d’oeuvres receptions are great for this! Hors d’oeuvres allow for creative freedom for your reception and can be served at different stations that complement the wedding theme. Today we’re sharing four benefits of a light hors d’oeuvres wedding package at Tate House!

One-on-one time with guests. Hors d’oeuvres receptions are great for brides and grooms who want to have a more intimate reception. Sometimes, it can be hard for guests to congratulate the couple during the reception. At Hors d’oeuvres receptions, the guests + bridal party aren’t tied down to a specific table, and the newlyweds and their families are able to personally thank the guests for helping celebrate their special day. You guests will greatly appreciate it if you take the time to greet them and thank them for coming!

Pleases your picky guests. Hors d’oeuvres receptions allow your guests to pick from different food options. With many possibilities offered, your guests are able to enjoy a variety of flavors at our Georgia wedding venue. This also provides more options for any guests with special dietary needs (vegetarian, gluten free, etc.) that may not be able to enjoy a set meal. These guests will greatly appreciate the thought put into making them feel welcome.

Great for afternoon or short receptions. As brides are becoming more creative with their weddings, more weddings are happening at different times of the day than the traditional evening wedding. Hors d’oeuvres receptions at our North Georgia wedding venue are perfect for afternoon weddings that fall between traditional meal times. Furthermore, if the bride + groom want a shorter reception, serving hors d’oeuvres offers the guests time to eat and mingle with other guests and make the most of your wedding reception.

Delicious menu. At our North Georgia Special Events Venue, our talented culinary team handcrafts each dish with quality ingredients to ensure satisfaction for you and your guests. Combined with the excellent service and attention to detail, we will make your day truly special. You and your guests will enjoy savoring every bite of your hors d’oeuvres reception!

Our Tate House Light Hors d’oeuvres reception package (75 guest minimum, 220 guest maximum) includes a 1 hour rehearsal for the wedding party, arrival at the wedding venue 2 hours before the wedding, use of the bridal cottage for hair and makeup, and a 3 hour ceremony and reception. Rachel and Alex met at Kennesaw State University. They were neighbors who became best friends. They even tried setting each other up with their sorority and fraternity friends, but it never worked out. Fate had other plans for our Tate House newlyweds! This sweet couple said “I do” on July 2, 2016 at our North Georgia Special Events Venue. They chose a summer wedding date as Rachel always dreamed of getting married with purse sunshine on her most special day. “Our love story has always been focused about ‘light’ – shining a light to this world together Jesus followers and never losing our spark as a couple throughout this journey.” Our beautiful bride, Rachel, is sharing more about her Georgia garden wedding below. Enjoy!

What was your overall vision for your wedding?

For our wedding, our main vision was for people to see how Jesus played such a big role in our relationship through our music, our ceremony, our vows, scripture, our blessing at dinner, etc. We wanted our wedding to exemplify elegance and sophistication. Tuxes were obviously a must for the men. The colors we decided went perfect with the marble mansion, but yet did not give off an extreme girly-feel. We wanted to stick to the coral, peach, blush color scheme for floral/décor because those colors looked stunning with the bridesmaids blue/gray dresses. As a bride, I pictured my wedding day to be like a scene on the Titanic – where everyone is dressed up for a classy dinner with the most stylish friends and family with a southern twist.

How involved was your groom in the wedding planning process?

The groom was definitely a trooper and participated in the planning process! He made every decision with me. I know that might be considered more rare for a groom to do, but I was so thankful he helped me with everything because it exemplified how important this day was to him as well. We decided our wedding day would be our only wedding day and our only marriage. We planned our wedding by ourselves, so were given the privilege to pick any and every detail possible. Most of the time, this can be a good thing, but sometimes when you mix an indecisive person with an ADD person, it can get tricky.

Did you have a wedding theme or color pallet, and if so how or why did you choose it?

Yes. I knew for a fact I wanted the men to be in tuxes. My dad and I both agreed it was a necessity. Because the men would be wearing black, I wanted the bridesmaids in a color that would be refreshing and peaceful. The color of their dresses was a jaybird blue with a shade of gray. The Georgia wedding venue already has a pink color scheme to it, so we wanted to add some color to ensure it did not look like a girly wedding. We had the bride’s flowers pop with a coral orange, peach pink, and blush scheme. The bridesmaids focused more on the blush scheme. The same went with the groomsmen’s boutonnieres. The groom had a pop of coral in his to stand out from the other groomsmen.

How important are the typical wedding traditions? Did you plan on doing something outside of the norm to make your wedding more of your own?

We wanted to follow the typical wedding traditions. We did choose our own scripture for our vows. We also chose worship music throughout our ceremony, which meant I did not walk down to the aisle to the typical song. This was something we purposely wanted to do to exemplify our relationship with the Lord. Everything else was definitely focused on the southern tradition. We did have two pastors in our ceremony (which is considered different) because we wanted the pastor of our church and my grandfather to both play a role. My grandfather was a pastor and had the privilege to marry other members of her family and it was part of my dream to have my grandfather up there with me. The pastor of our church was also someone who helped us get to where we were, so we couldn’t have imagined saying “I do” without Pastor Ken assisting us with communion like we do every Sunday. Another thing we decided to do that was outside of the norm was a dance-off. We teamed up with our maid of honor and best man to compete against each other. We also have this all on camera – which will be uploaded soon!

Why did you choose the Tate House as your wedding venue?

We knew we wanted the ceremony to be outside. However, since it was July, we knew the reception would need to be inside for our guests. Immediately, we fell in love with every detail of the Tate House for our Georgia historic home wedding. The color of the mansion inside and outside had this elegance to it that grabbed our attention. The best part about it was the location being in Tate, Georgia. This created the elegant vibe we wanted mixed with the southern belle sweetness of North Georgia Weddings. Nothing was comparable at all! The bridal cottage was stunning as well. The groomsmen had their own nook, which featured a poker table (talk about all of our dreams coming true!) We truly loved the mixing of a beautiful mansion with a countryside landscape.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

There were so many opportunities for us to take pictures at the Georgia estate wedding venue – it was great having the freedom to create any vision we truly wanted. The best part about planning this wedding was having the opportunity to pick every detail we wanted. The Tate House helped us with this a lot and was so kind to us throughout the process!

We are so thankful to have been able to host this sweet couple’s wedding day at our venue. We wish you two a lifetime of love and happiness! Cheers to the newlyweds! PS: their wedding video is a must-see.

Now more than ever, couples are personalizing every detail of their wedding to make it a true reflection of their style and personality as a couple. From black tie affairs to more casual summer soirees, the Tate House has been the proud host of many different styles of weddings. While Tate House weddings are traditionally classic and upscale due to the look our Pink Marble Mansion and elegant ballroom offers, each Tate House couple has a different guest experience in mind. Therefore, different dress codes might be preferred – semiformal, black tie optional, black tie or white tie.

We’ve teamed up with The Black Tux, a modern suit and tuxedo rentals company, to offer you this Wedding Guest Style Guide. Brides and grooms, first decide on the look you’re going for. Don’t forget to add the dress code to your invitation and/or wedding website. And finally, take it one step further by sharing this with your guests to help take the stress out of deciding what to wear!

5 Reasons Why Brides Love the Tate House

As we wind down wedding season and ramp up our Christmas Open House Tours, we’ve been reminiscing on this year’s weddings and how beyond blessed The Tate House is to host so many sweet couples’ most special day. We’re so thankful for the relationships we’ve built (and especially love seeing all our past brides visit us for a Christmas Tour to spend a day during this holiday season at their wedding venue). We’ve gathered some of our favorite kind words to share 5 reasons why brides love the Tate House.

5 Reasons Why Brides Love the Tate House, North Georgia Wedding Venue, Georgia Wedding Planning, Historic Wedding Venue, Georgia Historic Home Wedding

Photography: Mike Moon Studio

  1. The Tate House is a Historic Georgia Wedding Venue. “When looking for a wedding venue, we immediately thought of the Tate House because my parents got married here 25 years ago. It is a beautiful venue in the North Georgia Mountains with all the accommodations you could ever need. Michelle worked very, very hard to make sure our wedding day was the day I always dreamed of. She helped me think through my decisions and offered alternative ideas if that was needed. If I could do this day over again, I would literally change nothing about the day and I owe that all to the Tate House. If you are looking to get married in a beautiful location in the mountains, my husband, family, and I 100% recommend the Tate House!” -Megan Harris
  2. We’re always updating + upgrading to create the best Georgia wedding experience. If you are looking for an outdoor wedding, I highly recommend this place. It’s utterly romantic. They just built a terrace behind the outdoor ceremony too in case there were to be rain. It’s gorgeous and although I’m glad it didn’t rain on our wedding day, I wouldn’t have mind the terrace. Also, the venue has a ‘bridal cottage’ where my bridesmaids and I (and my mother) got ready the day of. My husband was able to take advantage of the venue’s ‘groomsmen cottage,’ which the venue had just finished renovating.” -Angelina H.
  3. Our team includes a wedding director + the Tate House Design Group. “From the very first moment my husband and I walked onto the property and The Tate House we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding day. Then we met the people who work there…and they helped seal the deal. Cindy, Michelle, Kelly, and Marsha are four amazing ladies that do everything they can to make weddings amazing. Any questions we had, got answered. Any nerves we had, were eased. They were always so happy to help us.” – Emily K.
  4. Tate House All-Inclusive Wedding Packages help you save money and stress. “They have many different packages to fit all budgets. You really get a lot of bang for your buck!! Everything is included (florals, food, decor, wedding coordinating) and the in house chef is amazing. The whole day was effortlessly smooth and we were treated like royalty in the bridal cottage. I highly recommend all brides check them out, it is well worth the trip up to Tate.” – Jewelia S.
  5. The Tate House is one of the most picturesque Georgia wedding venues. ” I can not say enough about the beautiful grounds that they have on this property the pictures are amazing. To end your amazing day you can also leave on a helicopter it was so cool and amazing your friends will talk of this cool departure for weeks.I have had numerous people tell me it was the prettiest wedding they had ever been to.” – Jill

Hosting Christy + Austin’s classy and romantic North Georgia wedding reminded us of everything we love about an elegant wedding at our pink marble mansion! The adorable couple has the sweetest love story, and their celebration let their personalities shine through. We’re thankful Paris Mountain Photography was there to capture these breathtaking moments!

We’re a sucker for good love stories, and Christy + Austin’s had us swooning! The couple met back in high school and Christy’s crush began right then. Through school athletics, mainly basketball, the couple became good friends. After their friendship continued to grow, they began dating six years later. Now, almost four years later, the sweet couple is married and our beautiful bride Christy is here to tell us about the special day below. Enjoy and happy Wedding Wednesday!

What was your wedding date and why did you choose it?

October 1st. I knew that I had to have a fall wedding. After looking at our busy calendar, we fell in love with the date! Plus, it’s easy for Austin to remember for our future anniversaries!

What was your overall vision for your wedding?

We wanted a very classy and traditional wedding. I wanted it full of neutral colors and elegant décor. Having amazing flowers were a HUGE deal to me!

What do you feel was the most special component of your wedding?

Austin and I both come from divorced parents. There will probably never be another time in our life that our entire families are together. There is nothing better than being in a room full of friends and family knowing that they are there to celebrate one of your biggest life events.

How involved was your groom in the wedding planning process?

I am a HUGE planner. He wasn’t too involved. Luckily, he knew I had a vision, trusted me with it, and let me stick to it!

Did you have a wedding theme or color pallet?

We had a very neutral color palette: blush, ivory, champagne, and light gray. We added gold glitter to different areas to give it a small glamour-boost. We chose the neutral pallet to give the wedding a classy feel. The Tate House was the perfect backdrop for these colors!

How important are the typical wedding traditions?

Tradition was extremely important. We wanted a very traditional ceremony with standard wedding vows. We followed a traditional timeline during our reception as well.

Why did you choose the Tate House as your wedding venue?

After touring a few venues, we found the Tate House listed on The Knot. I visited their website and knew I had to schedule an appointment to tour it. After my mom, Austin, and I visited the Tate House, I called my dad immediately and told him that we had to put the deposit down that day as I had fallen in love with the venue. There is also no other location like it. It is in a small town in the foothills of the mountains. When you are there, everything in sight is picture-perfect.
